Graham makes long jump into bodybuilding

He is among the many competitors who will be in action at the National Junior Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships, which is scheduled for June 11 at the Cascadia Hotel and Conference Centre, St Ann’s.

Graham will be taking part in the Men’s Physique category with the flexing of triceps and biceps set to get underway from 6 pm.

Admission for the Championships is $180 advance and $200 at the door.

Apart from the physique category, there will be competition in the lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight divisions to name a few as the athletes get set to show off their form to the judges.

Graham, a member of the CLX Health and Fitness Centre in El Dorado, revealed during an interview on Monday how he became attracted to the sport. The Tacaraigua resident, curious as to the rudiments involved in bodybuilding, decided to do some personal research on the internet.

“From viewing it on You Tube, I got a little insight about what it’s like. It’s something I see that I like and I (decided) to give it a shot.

“I started working out in CLX about seven months (ago) and I was approached by Lee (Beatrice) and some other fellas (at the gym),” admitted Graham. “So that’s how I actually heard about the competition. I decided upon that to give it a try.” Beatrice is the owner of CLX Health and Fitness Centre and Graham was high in praise of the Beatrice’s role in his bodybuilding development. The fitness buff noted that sport has always been part of his life as his fitness was always at a very high level.

“I was involved in running, in athletics, long jump and that sort of thing. Sports has always been my interest.

“(After joining) the gym, the first time I heard about being a physique athlete, it was something that interested me and I think I should pursue that. A physique athlete, I’m looking at taking it up as a sport, ” stated Graham, who is a welder/fabricator by trade.
