Davis, Holley triumph at Squash Masters

Over 60 participants graced the courts at the newly opened Queen’s Park Racquet Centre in St Clair, which boasts four international squash courts, one of which features an all-glass side wall ensuring an optimum spectating experience.

In the 25-34 age group, Luc Davis upset Brandon De Montrichard showing a stunning array of shot making and retrieval skills.

After De Montrichard turned up the heat to tie the games at 2-2, Davis played some excellent squash to emerge as the champion.

T he 45-54 age group saw John Holley dispatch Mark Laughlin in a tough five-set semi-final in order to meet Julian Henry in the final.

In the early games the players did not have much between them, however Holley remained consistent enough to wear down his opponent and claim victory.

In the 55-64 division, Suriname’s Rudy Wong a Foe dominated his group and continued his winning streak claiming the title 3-0 against Roger Galt.

Paul De Verteuil eclipsed Marc Pontifex 3-1 demonstrating his capabilities and status as one of this country’s most talented squash players.

In the women’s open, Ingrid Lloyd kept up her solid gameplay to beat Diane Julien who gave a spirited performance throughout the entire event.

Neil Ramasra and Harry Laughlin showed everyone that they could perform on the courts at any age. Ultimately Ramasra took the 65-plus age group.

Players were treated to welcome packages, lunch, dinner, a full service bar and a fantastic array of prizes provided by sponsors, BCQS International, Queen’s Park Cricket Club, Jackson Sports, Carib Beer, Sanicup, Massy Distribution, Subway, AS Bryden and Sons, Bryden PI, Trinidad Systems Limited, Indocom Limited, Vemvo Limited, Unilever, Angostura, Blue Waters and Digicel.
