Brilliant Maitland-Wilson hands Strikers Republic Cup title

Also winning titles on the day were San Juan Jabloteh and St Ann’s Rangers FC, copping the U-14 and U-16 titles respectively.

In the U-12 final, Maitland-Wilson’s brilliance led Ste Madeleine to a 4-2 victory over Uprising Youths.

Josiah Cooper opened the scoring for Ste Madeleine in the ninth minute, before Maitland-Wilson took over. Maitland-Wilson scored his first goal in the 18th minute before giving his team a 3-0 advantage with a 27th minute item.

Uprising Youths did not give up scoring two quick goals to cut the lead to 3-2. Isaiah Thomson found the back of the net in the 32nd before Kanye Francis scored in the 34th for Uprising Youths. Maitland- Wilson sealed the win for Strikers with a 40th minute goal. In the U-12 third place playoff, Malabar Young Stars edged Trincity Nationals 2-1.

In the U-14 division, San Juan Jabloteh defeated St Ann’s Rangers FC 1-0 in the final with a goal from Dorian Sampson, while Jaric Titans from Tobago won the third place playoff by default over Queen’s Park FA.

In the U-16 division, two goals by Jesse Williams guided St Ann’s Rangers to a 3-1 win over Uprising Youths in the final. Crown Trace FC had to settle for third place with a 1-0 win over Gasparillo Youths.
