UTT jump to top spot in Super League Championship

With overnight leaders Barrackpore United on a bye, UTT leapt from fifth to first place after a 3-1 victory over Youth Stars in a Match Day Nine fixture at the UTT O’Meara campus, Arima.

Isaiah Mejias put the hosts in front after 40 minutes but Ackeel Sterling levelled the scores in the 70th.

Mejias restored UTT ’s lead in the 76th and ex-national midfielder Kevaughn Connell sealed the deal with UTT ’s third, in the 79th.

Another team who made a climb on the points standings were Central 500 Spartans, who went from sixth to third after a 4-1 spanking on TT Prisons FC.

At the Hugo Francis Recreation Ground in Chaguanas, Central 500 Spartans got strikes from Keith Williams (41st), Josiah Grazette (45th), Donovan Derrick (76th) and Husani Thomas (86th). Larry Albert got the consolation item for Prisons, in the 87th.

In the meeting of cellar- placed clubs, Saddle Hill Hotspur rallied from a goal down to edge hosts Petit Valley/ Diego Martin United 2-1 at the Diego Martin North Secondary School Ground.

Deon John put Petit Valley/Diego Martin ahead in the 57th but Cyrano Glen equalised in the 80th and Jabari Carasquero got the winner for Saddle Hill, in stoppage time.

In the other scheduled match on the day, a power outage at the Dibe Recreation Ground in Long Circular, St James saw the abandonment of the Carenage United-Cunupia FC contest, with Carenage leading by a 3-2 margin.
