Get Children’s Hospital up and running

We have to come out of our backwardness and stop being ignorant.

We are heading for the 21st century. Times have changed and we need to step up our game and look to a new horizon. We cannot continue to be living in mediocrity. We have to change our way of thinking.

A children’s hospital can bring revenue in our country. Children from other Caribbean countries such as Grenada, St Lucia and Barbados will be able to use our hospital.

It will be foolish not to make use of that hospital. We have to get the politics out of the way and put country first.

I know a sick child who goes to the children’s ward in the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.

She is a very ill child but they cannot keep her for long and have to send her back home.

The doctors are afraid she will get germs from the other children.

The last time she was there she was in the Cancer Ward, and she does not have cancer. When she became ill I contacted the St Jude Hospital in the US and they told me they cannot treat her problem because it is a hospital for children with cancer. Here however she is in the Cancer Ward. That is not right.

So we need the Children’s Hospital to be up an running for the children’s sake. Instead of building a mall in Maraval or a hotel in Chaguaramas, why not provide the hospital with all the necessary medical equipment, doctors and nurses so these sick children can get the treatment they deserve.
