Two years jail for armed robbery

Cleveon St Rose and another 22-year-old man were charged with robbery of Chan Han Chen at the Bamboo Supermarket.

St Rose pleaded guilty to the charges while the other man pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Brambhanan Dubay in the San Fernando Magistrates Court.

The court was told that the duo, armed with guns, robbed Chen of $862 cash and four packs of cigarettes valued $120 at Bamboo Supermarket. It was further alleged that they robbed customer Nelson Charles of $140 cash and a cellular phone valued $120. St Rose was charged individually with the possession of a Glock pistol and 12 rounds of ammunition. The offences were alleged to have taken place on September 1.

Police prosecutor, Cleyon Sedan, told the court that at about 8.30 pm police officers responded to a report of a robbery in progress at the supermarket and went to the location where they arrested St Rose and the other man.
