Guaya United start knockout defence in style

At the New Lands Ground in Guayaguayare, Guaya had the game wrapped up at half-time, after items from Cleveland Jordan (27th minute), Kendes Garcia (30th) and Darryl Jessop (35th). Curtis Smith (76th) got the consolation strike for Petit Valley/Diego Martin FC.

Central 500 Spartans registered the biggest margin of victory in the First Round, as they spanked Marabella Family Crisis Centre 4-1 at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium’s Training Field, Marabella.

Josiah Grazette (20th and 90th) netted twice for Central 500 Spartans, while Donavon Derrick (21st) and Calvi Grazette (89th) contributed one apiece. Ex-national defender/midfielder Andrei Pacheco (50th) got the lone item for the hosts.

Kareem Perry got the winner in the 68th as Police edged Saddle Hill Hotspur 1-0 at the St James Barracks, while Siparia Spurs needed kicks from the penalty mark to oust Cunupia FC 3-2 at Irwin Park, Siparia.

The scores were tied at 2-2 at the end of regulation time, with Andy London (41st) and Chris Collins (60th) netting for Siparia, while Dellon Jaggasar (83rd) and Dillon Walker (90th) equalising for the visitors.

Bethel United held off a late challenge from TT Prisons FC to prevail 3-2 at the Mt Gomery Recreation Ground. Travis Winchester (12th), Rohan Sebro (23rd) and Omarr Charles (84th) got their names on the scoresheet for Bethel while Larry Albert (72nd) and Ricardo Alleyne (87th) replied for TT Prisons.

Another game which ended in a 3-2 result saw Carenage United emerge victorious over hosts Real Maracas at the Maracas Recreation Ground, St Joseph.

Ryan Stewart (31st) and Christian Thomas (43rd) gave Maracas a 2–0 halftime lead but Carenage United turned the tables in the second half, with Daryl Mark (62nd), Clint Williams (75th) and Kendell Baptiste (78th) on target as the visitors triumphed.

Wednesday’s other fixture saw Youth Stars cruise past Queen’s Park 3-1 at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya.

Hakeem Legall (47th and 53rd) scored twice while Henson Charles (90th) got the other for the Youth Stars. Shabaka Mahluli (58th) got the consolation for the Parkites.

Second Round action will be contested on September 21.
