Even as he expressed sympathy to the Chang family, the minister mandated that immediate and appropriate action be taken by the board to reduce the waiting times for admission, and to ensure that optimal care was provided to all patients.

Deyalsingh said he was holding the board responsible for the implementation of sustainable solutions to improve the quality of care provided to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. This, he said, was in keeping with good governance practice.
