Shot teen released from hospital

Newsday understands emergency surgery was performed on one of the teen’s legs to remove a bullet that was lodged just below his skin.

After the bullet was successfully removed, the boy was released to the care of relatives.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the shooting incident, but police sources told Newsday yesterday they have a suspect in mind but are still gathering evidence in the case.

In the meantime, the teenager, along with family members and friends will now have to face the pain of losing their relative after she was shot dead just outside her businessplace on Mt Hope Road.

According to reports, the teen and his mother were in her Nissan Tida on Saturday morning, in front her businessplace when at about 9.30, a man dressed in dark clothing approached the vehicle and opened fire. Goodridge and the teenager ran to safety, but not before the teenager was shot in the leg and Goodridge was shot in the chest, arms and legs.

Goodridge died at the scene.

At the Forensic Science Centre, St James yesterday, Goodridge’s sister, Shelly Ann Paris said she warned Goodridge about an estranged male companion, with whom she had ended a relationship. Paris said the relationship was abusive and that she had made several reports against the male companion.

“What I used to tell her was that this man would kill you, because she had known all his business,” said Paris, “She went to Barataria Police Station and made more than one report. Some time ago he had kicked her down a drain.

“I just want to tell the women out there that if you are in a relationship like that, walk away, and talk to somebody. I just want to know how this man could live with himself after he did something like this.

That is someone’s daughter.

“I am sure he would not like someone to treat his mother or his sister that way, so why do that to someone’s daughter?” Investigations are ongoing.
