Medical tests for injured fire officer
According to Acting Chief Fire Officer Roosevelt Bruce, six fire fighters were injured from the high tension wire on Thursday’s rescue mission.
He said Gibson and five other fire fighters were rendering rescue aid to several stranded commuters and a maxi taxi driver on the Priority Bus Route (PBR), in the vicinity of Barataria when the fire officers came in contact with a live electrical wire.
“All six officers, rested comfortably at Mt Hope hospital, and the doctors are still running some tests on officer Gibson. He sustained burns on his body and they are checking to ensure that there are no unseen injuries, like internal organs,” Bruce explained.
On Thursday, several communities across the country were affected by flood waters and fallen trees due to gusty winds, leaving thousands of commuters stranded.
