* Turn your refrigerator to the coldest setting. Keep it closed as much as possible so that food will last long if there is a power loss.

* Bring into your house anything that can be picked up by the wind, example lawn furniture.

* Keep cell phones charged and make only necessary calls.

* Secure your pets.

* Avoid flooded roads.
