School closed until further notice
Under the advice of the public health officer and the district nurse, the school which is situated at Richmond Street in Portof- Spain, would remain closed due to fears of a chicken pox outbreak.
A source yesterday said one child was observed with symptoms associated with the highly contagious chicken pox disease and his parents were called in and told to have him examined (and treated) by a medical doctor.
Speaking under condition of anonymity, the source said that school officials were advised to keep students away until they were able to get the school sanitised.
The source added that the issue of sanitising the school compound would have to be dealt with by the Education Ministry.
Education Minister Anthony Garcia could not be reached yesterday for comment as he was attending a sitting at the Parliament chamber.
