Pupils: Stop polluting our environment

They did this in dramatic storytelling and poetry on Monday at a Republic Bank sponsored “Environmental Storyfest” held at the Exodus Pan Theatre in St Augustine.

Meanwhile, in an address at the opening of the event, Republic Bank branch manager, Tunapuna West/East, Geeta Harricharan, advised the pupils that as environmental ambassadors they must encourage others to accept responsibility to consciously preserve the environment and to spread this attitude with family and community members.

The ten schools that took part were presented with $2,000 each by the bank as a token of its contribution towards the schools’ environmental projects.

Noting the high standard of the stories written by teachers and pupils, and the storytelling which children memorised and dramatised, Harricharan said “you have merged three of the most irresistible forces in life — youth, art and nature — into something much more powerful, something unique, something all your own. Now we ask you to share it.” Congratulating creative director of Culture House, Theodora “Auntie Thea” Ulerie, for organising the event that was held to commemorate Universal Children’s Day observed on Sunday, Harricharan challenged the pupils to become agents of change and representatives of a brighter, better tomorrow for our beautiful nation.”
