National Sport Policy consultations underway

Since coming into office in September 2015m Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Darryl Smith has been trying to “clean up” sport in TT and the creation of the National Sport Policy should help identify key issues in sport.

At City Hall members of National Governing Bodies were part of the first public consultation session.

Some of the issues idenitified as causing problems in local sport are lack of role clarity organisational responsibilities and functions, poor corporate governance, poor financial management, lack of research and development, lack of proper asset management, under-development of the sport tourism and business sectors and a lack of training facilities.
