Man in court for murder

Jalini Parkinson was not called on to plead on the murder charge nor two charges of possession of a firearm and ammunition. He was also charged with wounding David “Nanny” Matthews.

Parkinson will return to court on January 3, after his attorney, Osbourne Charles SC, agreed to a date outside of the 28-day remand period. Gregoire, 39, of Pitilal Road, Waterhole, was with Mathews and another man at Freedom Street, Cocorite, constructing a wall when a masked gunman approached and opened fire.

Mathews was shot in the leg and he and Gregoire were taken to the St James Medical Facility where Mathews was treated and transferred to Port-of-Spain General Hospital. Gregoire died from his wounds.
