TTCB to announce findings in sex abuse probe

The TTCB Executive had scheduled a meeting yesterday at the National Cricket Centre (NCC), Couva, to discuss the findings by a committee setup to investigate the matter which became public a couple weeks ago. The committee comprised TTCB president Azim Bassarath and 2nd vice-president Lalman Kowlessar.

“We had the meeting, we will hold a press conference in a couple days to let the public know what is happening,” Ragoonath stated.

The TTCB has been accused of not investigating the matter urgently by members of its South Zone who have even gone so far as to call on the Executive to resign. They allege that the TTCB received the report five months ago. But a defiant Bassarath has hit back immediately, challenging that statement while stating that the Board only got the report on the matter in October. Newsday has spoken to the manager of the national team at the time of the incident who refused to confirm or deny he received a complaint from the national player or if he submitted any report on the alleged incident to the TTCB.
