Club Crusoe, Munroe Road advance to quarters

In the first match Munroe Road posted a massive 209 for five against Defence Force with Akeem Alvarez scoring 100 with eight fours and nine sixes. In reply Defence Force got to 70/2 in nine overs when rain ended the match to give Munroe Road victory by 31 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis method.

In the second match Club Crusoe scored 209/6 batting first with Leron Lezama hitting 74 not out.

In reply Defence Force could only muster 115/8 as Ancil Nedd (2/12) and Navin Stewart (2/29) both snatched two wickets. Defence Force was eliminated from the tournament after the two defeats.

After press time last night Club Crusoe and Munroe Road were playing for the top spot in Group D. On Friday night, Merry Boys confirmed a spot in the quarterfinals with a 22-run win over UWI in Group B action. National cricketer Marlon Richards and Ranga Latchana both scored 34 as Merry Boys posted a competitive 166/7 in 20 overs. Travis Blyden was the top bowler for UWI taking 3/26 in four overs. In reply, Miguel Francis scored an unbeaten 48 but UWI could only score 144/6. Also making contributions to the UWI total were Jasbour Findlay (30) and Blyden (26), but man of the match Richards ensured Merry Boys came away with the win snatching 3/29.

Also advancing to the quarterfinals from Group B was Police.
