Imbert: Focus on Alutech

Imbert, who was a Cabinet minister in that administration, however said the Alutech component of that project is being actively pursued.

The minister said the Alutech plant will, “focus on the production of high quality aluminium downstream products.” He listed pressed aluminium, coils and wheel rims as some of the products to be manufactured by Alutech.

Imbert explained that ingots will be imported and combined with state of the art technology to manufacture these products. He added the plant will also generate revenue and foreign exchange as well as create jobs.

Imbert also said no US$66.6 million credit facility was ever obtained through the China Exim Bank to finance the Alutrint project.
