Dare to dream; do not take your life

Never tell a person with depression to “get over it.” Never say that a person “just needs to move on and forget about it.” Depression is a serious illness caused by a number of factors.

Sometimes, with professional help, it goes away completely. Too often, it doesn’t.

Some choose selfharm as a way to feel something again.

Others don’t ever see the light and choose suicide as the only means to escape the pain of losing their job. Obviously, if someone is considering suicide, even if just slightly, then the pain is really bad. It means they want the pain to go away and that’s the only way they believe they can make it stop.

It means they can’t see the light anymore.

It means they don’t feel they can continue living. It means they can’t “get over it” as easily as some may think. It means they are in so much pain they may not feel anything anymore, so they don’t see the point of living.

To you who are thinking about suicide, this is understandable but there are so many reasons not to take that action.

One reason is that situations do improve and therefore setbacks are only temporary.

Another reason is because, though things may be difficult, you are loved.

Maybe you are in a situation in life where you believe no one cares. Like you are worth nothing. Like you could literally disappear into the crowd and no one would notice.

Let me tell you that people will notice.

As hard as it is to see, there are people who appreciate and care right now. Even if they don’t seem to care. Even if it’s just one person, that one person needs you in their life. That means you have a purpose for living. You have value. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

You are a strong person and so much tougher than you know. Even if you have given up and have tried suicide and you are reading this, you are a strong person.

My life is an example of the fact that things do get better.

Having recently been the victim of an arson attack against my home in Chaguanas, I have decided to rise above the pettiness, immaturity and cowardice of my enemies and have decided to travel the world sharing the message with speaking engagements and my own motivational CD that we can positively impact the world by daring to dream.
