Surujdeen Persad takes over from Dick

Persad will fill the post until an appointment is made next week. The order was given by Commissioner Stephen Williams yesterday.

Dick’s retirement will become official next Wednesday.

Yesterday he addressed police officers who were about to conduct a raid at Beetham Gardens.

He told colleagues that he intends to work closely with young people and to also use his experience in the police service to help those in communities who may have troubled children. Dick served as a police officer for close to 40 years.
