Six arrested as $18 million in cocaine seized

Police reported at about 4.30 pm, members of the Northern Division Task Force led by Sgt Ishmael Pitt executed a search warrant and arrested the men from Toco, Trincity, Sangre Grande, Arima and Waller Field.

They searched a silver crate where they allegedly found 12 packets containing the illegal drug.

Police believe that the cocaine was not for the local market but was supposed to be exported.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Irwin Hackshaw commended the work of Sgt Pitt and his officers.

He also commended the public for partnering with the police in the fight against crime and said that the partnership can result in law enforcement reclaiming the country from the hands of criminals.

Up until yesterday the suspects were being questioned at the Arouca Police Station
