Top cop ordered to pay costs
On January 9, Williams issued letters to Snr Supts John Trimm and Simbonath Rajkumar, requesting they provide representations to him within seven days as to why they should not be retired. At the time, Rajkumar was head of the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) awhile Trimm was in charge of Eastern Division. The two, through their attorney Gerald Ramdeen, replied to Williams indicating they are entitled to see all documentation he considered in seeking to retire them from the service.
On January 20, the officers filed for judicial review against Williams seeking an order from the court that the Commissioner produce to them, before they make any representation, all material he considered in making his decision to retire them on the basis that the two did not make, “any significant contribution towards the Police Service improving its performance in 2016.” Yesterday, the court was told that the Acting Commissioner provided all information requested by Trimm and Rajkumar. The State was represented by Reginald Armour SC and Vanessa Gopaul.
