UDeCOTT hands over Lara Academy to Sports Ministry
UDeCOTT chairman Noel Garcia, in handing the ceremonial key to Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs Natasha Barrow, heaped praise on contractors who performed admirably in delivering works on 22 packages, over almost nine months; hailing the joint effort with UdeCOTT staff, consultants and members of the UdeCOTT board, as a success story.
Garcia was particularly pleased that the Trinidad and Tobago public, the region and wider diaspora now have access to a stateof- the-art cricket facility that is second to none.
Barrow, who represented Sports Minister Darryl Smith, was elated that the venue was finally being put to good use by cricket and sport enthusiasts.
Four separate, independent reports comprehensively verified architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and civil surveys of the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, tabling that the Academy meets the international codes and standings governing sports facilities, and was resoundingly certified as safe for use.
The official handover coincided with the final of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TT CB) T20 Festival between Merry Boys and Central Sports.
Merry Boys emerged as the T20
