Garcia: Sewage leak at Lara Academy fixed

“Yes a minor problem and it was repaired. Things like this would occur from time to time.

UDeCOTT’s aim is to minimise such occurrences,” he said.

The sewage leak alarmed patrons on Friday and occurred in the stand situated between the media booth and the party stand, to the north western side of the ground. Attendants used caution signs to block patrons from accessing the area and eventually placed a dustbin over the spot where the leak took place.

The Brian Lara Academy was opened in grand style last Friday and featured a Lara XI playing an exhibition match against an International XI. UDeCOTT has officially handed over the facility to the Ministry of Sport. An official of the Sport Company of Trinidad and Tobago who wished to remain anonymous sought to downplay the incident, stating that the matter would be taken care of by UDeCOTT.

“That could happen at any point in time but that would require UDeCOTT to sort that out.

After they handover and there is an issue, they should handle it.

It’s like building a house, if the contractor hands over the keys and a pipeline bursts a week later then they must fix it,” the official stated.
