Abrego back in the saddle on Indian Arrival Day
Abrego will be back after serving out a suspension, and will ride Lord silver in the co-feature Chief Commander Classic.
Also expected to be in the saddle at Santa Rosa Parkk is Barbadian Rickty Walcott who will be astride Discouldrun in the Chief Commander and Buffalo Soldier in the co-feature Arima Race Club Cup.
And ex-Sovereign Award (Woodbine race track) winner and local champion Emile Ramsammy will be riding Shangri La in the Chief Commander and Transpire in the ARC Cup.
There are 12 locally-bred threeyear- olds set to contest the Chief Commander, but only six in the ARC Cup.
The Arima Race Club Stewards have come up with a 10-race programme for the Indian Arrival Day holiday with the opener timed for noon.
Teniente Coronel seems to have scared away the opposition in the ARC Cup, as he will have only five rivals in the 1800 metres race with a $100,000 total purse.
There will be large fields on the day, with 119 horses entered to face the starter.
