Central, North battle for Shell InterZone U-13 title

Both teams emerged winners of their respective groups and the overall champion will be crowned after they prove themselves in the 50-overs-a-side contest which starts at 10.30 am.Central clinched their berth in the final with a comfortable seven- wicket victory over a plucky Tobago outfit in their semi-final encounter last Wednesday at the same venue while North advanced through a higher net run rate after their semi-final against South were twice washed out at the NCC ground.

Central crushed South-West by 227 runs in their first round and then whipped South by seven wickets in the second round.

However, their third round clash against South-East was abandoned due to inclement weather conditions.

And then they took care of Tobago in their semi-final.

In their clash with South-West, Central amassed 290 for nine with Justin Jaggesar 58, Ronnilster Perreira 42, Dillon Balkaran 37 being the principal scorers.

Perreira returned with the ball and claimed five wickets for 13 runs as they dismantled South-West for 63.

Perreira (2/18), Rajiv Ramnath (2/42) and Nick Ramlal (2/20) shared the wickets when they restricted South to 150 for seven wickets while skipper Ramnath topscored with an unbeaten 71 and piloted Central to a commanding seven- wicket win with 154 for three wickets.

North Zone defeated East Zone, North-East Zone and Tobago in the round robin while their semi-final against South was twice abandoned and progressed to the championship decider.

Central Zone team will be selected from Rajiv Ramnath (captain), Ronnilster Perreira, Nick Ramlal, Terrel Coombs, Justin Jagessar, Nirvan Narinesingh, Rahul Bharat, Brandon Deonarine, Dillon Balkaran, Zachary Dookree, Sanjay Mohammed, Vishwesh Pattanaik and Ceon Seecharan.

North Zone comprises Kyle Ramdoo (captain), Zachary Siewah, Joshua Davis, Joshua Campbell, Daylon Riley, Christian Mack, Jaden O’Brien, Joshua Maharaj, Johanan Lawrence, Akeel Richards, Nicolai Pedro, Rahul Soodeen, Zobari Romany and Krone Jacob.
