Rowley: Audit report into EFCL will be made public
Rowley told the House of Representatives yesterday, in response to a question, that when the investigation is completed he will then be in a better position to answer concerns relating to allegations of mismanagement, corruption and bid rigging at EFCL.
“The findings would be made available,” he said.
When his Government took office in September 2015, Rowley said, “One of the first difficulties we encountered was the whole rash of allegations, claims and actions of misconduct at this particular company.” He said he asked Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi to look at what was going on at the EFCL when the new board was appointed.
After a year of this board wrangling with the problems, he said, some members resigned and positions were filled. With the recent resignation of last chairman Arnold Piggott, he said Government was required to reconstruct the board. “We are in the process of completing the appointments to that board,” he said.
