Woman charged for stabbing father
Ironically, her father Ruthven Pile, 62, is her bailor in the case involving her sister. In February, Senior Magistrate Nanette Forde-John had issued a warrant for Cross’ arrest for failing to appear in court .
Yesterday, Magistrate Cherril-Anne Antoine read the charge which alleged that on Friday at Ninth Street, Vistabella, Cross maliciously wounded Pile. The charge laid by PC Matloo of the Southern Division Task Force is an indictable one so she was not called upon to plead. It is alleged that during an altercation at Pile’s home, Cross stabbed him twice - in the neck and back- with a knife. When the magistrate asked her reason for not attending court on February 16, Cross said her pants was dirty .
She was denied bail and remanded into custody at the St Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital for an evaluation .
Cross was initially charged with maliciously wounding her sister with intent to do her grievous bodily harm. It is alleged that on March 26, 2015, she repeatedly stabbed her sister because of a television remote control. The child spent time at the Intensive Care Unit of the San Fernando General Hospital and was subsequently discharged .
Cpl Mohammed laid the charge .
A magistrate had granted her $90,000 bail which was subsequently reduced to $75,000, then to $50,000 .
