Bridges, Campbell top National Road Race

The Trinidad and Tobago Cycling Federation hosted the event in conjunction with the OWTU Rienzi Cycle Classic committee.

The race started at the OWTU office in San Fernando and finished at the OWTU office in Fyzabad.

The cyclists rode through various communities in south Trinidad including La Brea, Point Fortin, Erin, Santa Flora and Siparia.

Antiguan Bridges defended his 2016 title, winning the 77km trek ahead of the Heatwave duo Guy Costa (silver) and Marc Pogson (bronze) in the elite men’s category.

In the elite women’s category, former top junior cyclist Campbell won the division ahead of Cheyenne Awai of Breakaway (silver) and Amy Ramcharitar of Southampton Wheelers (bronze).

Last Saturday, the National Road Cycling Championships began with the time trial event at the Waterloo Exchange Connector Road.

Jabari Whiteman took the gold medal in the junior category and Enrique De Comarmond snatched the juvenile category.

On Sunday at 1 pm, the National Road Cycling Championships will continue with the National Criterium Championships at the Wallerfield International Raceway in Wallerfield.
