Mohan guides Combine All Stars to easy win
The organisers worked tediously to get the outfield ready for the match due to the consecutive days of inclement weather. The conditions would have been difficult for batting so All Stars had a clear advantage when they won the toss and inserted the home team Charlieville Same Side to take first strike.
Same Side tried to improve from their poor batting display on the opening match of tournament but the conditions, and some quality bowling, prevented this from happening. They could only muster 88 runs in 15.4 overs with only three batsmen scoring in double digits - Daniel Williams (19), Travis Karim (15) and Kissoondath Magram (14). The big surprise of the match was the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force wicketkeeper/ batsman Amir Jangoo who relinquished the gloves for the evening to have claim bowling figures of three wickets for 19 runs.
He received support from the eventual Manof- the-Match Mohan, who had 2/12.
With only 89 runs for victory, the All Stars survived an early scare when Amzard Mohammed had two early strikes as he had Jangoo for a duck and Yousouf Ramlogan for 11 runs.
Then a 57-run partnership between Isaiah Rajah and Mohan steadied the innings.
Both batsmen seemed to have been batting on a different pitch because their runs were made quite easily. Rajah fell just before victory was achieved with a run-aball 33 runs and Mohan ended with 20 not out.
