Guaya United beat Siparia in six-goal affair

At the Petrotrin Sports Club Ground in Fyzabad, Guaya United registered a 4-2 win over Siparia Spurs to move to the top of the standings.

Guaya, Defence Force, University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) and FC Santa Rosa all have six points after two games, with Guaya and UTT possessing a plus-four goal difference. But Guaya are top of the standings on the basis on scoring more goals (seven) to Defence Force (five).

On Sunday, Jagdeosingh netted in the 40th and 59th minutes, while Kendes Garcia (10th) and Carlon Hughes (63rd) were the other goal-getters for Guaya.

Andy London (52nd) and Dwayne Edwards (89th) got their names on the scoresheet for Siparia Spurs.

At the St James Barracks, Defence Force registered a 2-0 win over hosts Police, in a clash of the servicemen. Josimar Belgrave, one of the more prolific scorers in the 2016 season, netted a pair, in the 15th and 73rd minutes.

UTT overcame an early setback to get the better of 1976 Phoenix FC 4-2 at the UTT O’Meara campus in Arima.

Jabarry Francis put Phoenix ahead in the 18th but Isaiah Mejias replied with a double, in the 31st and 34th.

The veteran Dominique Kerr levelled the scores for Phoenix in the 46th but Theon James scored UTT’s third goal in the 55th. Dillon Bartholomew put the game beyond Phoenix’s reach when he found the back of the net in the 85th.

FC Santa Rosa eased past Bethel United 2-0 at the Arima Municipal Stadium, with strikes from Keron Clarke (41st) and Rashad Griffith (65th).

Michael Darko scored in the 30th as Cunupia FC edged WASA 1-0 at the WASA Ground in St Joseph while Kevaughn John netted twice, in the 59th and 75th, as Queen’s Park blanked Club Sando Moruga 2-0 at the Queen’s Park Oval, St Clair.
