Mark wants Massy details
In a supplemental query to his listed question, Mark said if Hinds was so optimistic about the deal as stated in his main reply then maybe he could supply the relevant documents, including the due diligence report (that is, a buyer’s appraisal of a business before purchasing) and a shareholders agreement plus two other documents.
Hinds called Mark’s request “flabbergasting”. He said the deal has not yet been completed, a confidentiality agreement was signed and the telecom sector is a very competitive environment.
Hinds invited Mark to desist from his questioning, but Mark declared, “I decline your offer.” Asked by Independent Senator Paul Richards if job losses might occur as often happens in such company acquisitions, Hinds said that matter has not yet arisen although in such matters “all such things are possible.” Mark asked the rationale for buying Massy, given its losses in the past two years, but Senate president Christine Kangaloo disallowed the question.
