Global report lists TT as most dangerous in English-speaking Caribbean
This is according to the Global Peace Index Report 2017 which ranked 163 countries.
The most dangerous listed in the Caribbean are the Dominican Republic ranked at 65, followed by TT at 67, Jamaica, 72, Cuba, 76, and Haiti, 81. Guyana on the South American mainland was ranked at 83.
In the Americas, Colombia has been listed as the most dangerous ranking 17, followed by Venezuela at 21, Mexico 22, USA, 50, Brazil, 56, and Honduras, 58. The least dangerous in the Americas is Chile ranked at 140.
Syria has been listed as the most dangerous country. The others in the top ten are Afghanistan, Iraq, South Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, Libya, Central African Republic, Sudan and Ukraine.
The least dangerous is Iceland.
The others in the top least dangerous are New Zealand, Portugal, Austria, Denmark, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Canada, Switzerland and Japan.
The report compiled by the Institute for Economics and Peace covered 163 countries which accounted for over 99.7 percent of the world’s population.
They were assessed using 23 indicators on the level of safety and security in society, the extent of domestic and international conflict, and the degree of militarisation.
According to the report, the world is a slightly less dangerous place than it was a year ago.
