Suspect held for Malabar double murder
The suspect was held after police stopped a car he was a passenger in which was proceeding along Pinto Road in Arima.
The suspect was taken into custody by members of the Pinto Road Police Post and handed over to officers of the Region II Homicide Investigations Bureau.
Investigators said the suspect’s home will be searched as part of ongoing investigation into the double murder.
Police believe with the arrest, they could detain others linked to the crime. The suspect was expected to be fingerprinted yesterday so the prints could be examined with those found inside Mohammed’s home to see if a match is made. Fingerprints were also found on the Mohammed family’s vehicle which was stolen and found abandoned later in Wallerfield.
According to reports, police from the Northern Division received information that a person fitting the description of one of the suspects was seen in a vehicle at Pinto Road shortly after 10 am. They stopped the vehicle and detained the suspect.
On the weekend three suspects were detained but were later released pending further enquiries.
A Wallerfield man was seen by people driving off in Mohammed’s husband’s car last week Wednesday moments before the bodies were discovered inside Mohammed’s Ajim Baksh Trace, Malabar home.
Autopsies confirmed that both Videsh and Mohammed were murdered by way of their throats being slit
