TT register second win in Regional Under-17

In a rain-affected match Jamaica got to 118 runs for eight wickets against TT after 45.2 overs when rain stopped play at Gilbert Park in Couva.

Chasing a revised target of 79 in 20 overs TT got to 79/3 in 17.3 overs.

Jamaica were in a fairly comfortable position on 39/1 but the TT bowlers fought back as the score became 56/4.

Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals as Jamaica limped to a modest total before rain stopped play.

Ricardo McIntosh top scored with 26, while Michael Thompson contributed 19. Spin bowlers Sameer Ali and Avinash Mahabirsingh were the chief destroyers.

Ali took 3/13 in 10 overs which included three maidens, while Mahabirsingh snatched 3/17 in eight overs.

Leonardo Julien top scored with 38 off 38 deliveries with two fours and two sixes to help TT to victory. TT captain Mbeki Joseph scored 15, while Joshua James help finish the match with an unbeaten 13.

M Meggs was the best bowler for Jamaica taking 2/20 in three overs.

Round Three will bowl off tomorrow at 9.30 am.

Match abandoned.

At Brian Lara Cricket Academy: GUYANA 72/1 (21 overs) vs LEEWARD ISLANDS 138 all out (revised target of 140 in 21 overs). Guyana win by two runs under Duckworth/Lewis system.
