Project to get youth to change their minds
It is labelled “Change Your Mind/Stay Away From Crime” and is a multi-media communications project idea which I have designed with the intention of engineering a change in the mind-set of the people of TT and beyond.
The project seeks to get into the minds of our young people, starting with our so-called at-risk youths whose social conditions and mental state make them most vulnerable to exploring criminal activity as their first option for navigating the journey of life.
That’s why the initial thrust of the programme features a video asking youths: “What’s on your mind today, my brother?/ What’s in your head today, my sister?/ The thought you choose to entertain/ The thing that’s locked down in your brain/ That is what will stay with you/ And that is what you’ll chose to do/ And that’s why you have to change/ change your mind/ and stay, stay away from crime.” The full video is available on the link: You Tube Rudolph Williams Change Your Mind.
“Change Your Mind” not only proposes a wide range of multi-media outreach mechanisms but also provides for direct intervention among the vulnerable through community transformation workshops conducted by professionals.
And it looks at prospects for rehabilitating those who are already in a life of crime.
The programme also recognises white-collar crime and general distorted people behaviour as key factors to be dealt with in terms of their subtle erosion of the moral fabric of our society.
The project points to entrepreneurship as the vehicle for driving our young people into own-business enterprise as the first choice in the quest for wealth generation and contribution to building the new economy as part of our must-do diversification thrust. This I call the “Destiny Warriors” project.
The formulation of “Change Your Mind” and its attendant programmes has evolved out of my grounding as a citizen of TT with several years experience in the field of communications, combined with a measure of study in education, behaviour, hypnotherapy and kundalini yoga.
I hope citizens will find this offer worthy of their attention at this crucial time in our nation’s history.
