Man charged for Chinese man’s kidnap

Officers led by Acting Supt Ajith Persad approached Honoure-Paul for instructions on how to proceed in the Chinese Embassy courier/ driver Zhang Sajio as well as the kidnap of another person two weeks ago. The deputy DPP gave instruction that the man be charged with kidnapping for ransom, kidnapping, two counts of robbery with aggravation and possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The man will appear before a Port of Spain magistrate today. Two Saturdays ago, the suspect kidnapped a Chinese bank worker and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash and his vehicle. The suspect then used the stolen vehicle to kidnap Sajio last week Thursday as he was walking towards the Embassy.

Sajio was rescued by police near the Roxy roundabout four hours after he was snatched.
