3 murders in 12 hours
Police said that at about 5.30 am yesterday, gunmen stormed the home of Nekyon Jones at Benedictine Street in Carenage.
According to reports, the 39-year-old man and his mother were at the house when the gunmen broke in.
Following a chase, Jones was cornered and shot multiple times. He was later taken to the St James Health Centre but was pronounced dead on arrival. Relatives yesterday refused to comment on the incident.
Hours before Jones was gunned down, the father of twin boys lost his life at Chanka Trace in El Socorro. Primnath Ramadeen died after he was shot at about 8 pm on Sunday.
According to reports, Ramadeen was washing a car outside a house at Chanka Trace, while a group of men was liming in the same area.
A vehicle arrived and its occupants pointed weapons and opened fire. Ramadeen and two others were wounded and later taken to hospital where he died while receiving treatment.
Relatives described him as a church-going person who merely was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Relatives added that he was a CEPEP worker who did any odd job so as to support his family including his twin sons.
In another incident, 21-year-old Amado Hernandez was shot while standing outside the Santa Cruz home of a female friend.
A theory police have is that Hernandez was shot by the estranged lover of the woman.
Hernandez’ father Felix said he (the victim) left his home on Saturday morning to visit the 29-year-old woman. At about 5.30 pm, relatives were notified that he had been shot dead.
