Red Force vs Regional XI for hurricane victims

According to a source, the match is tentatively scheduled for October 7 and will be held at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.

Several big names are being earmarked for the Regional XI including hard hitting Jamaican Chris Gayle and other T20 stars.

The TT CB was in an Executive Meeting up to press time yesterday with the charity match among the items tabled on the agenda. A TT CB official, who left the meeting temporarily to answer Newsday’s phone call, said: “I would prefer it (confirmation) comes from the organisers and they are now in the meeting.” The TT CB official revealed a press release will be issued on the match but nothing was forthcoming up to press time yesterday evening.

The TT CB initiative follows several acts of benevolence and solidarity by the region to assist those afflicted by the devastating category five hurricanes.

Countries such as Barbuda and Dominica are being described as uninhabitable with almost 90 percent of homes destroyed.

The Government of Guyana through its President David Granger has offered land free to those who wish to migrate and rebuild their lives elsewhere.

Yesterday, TT Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley extended a helping hand to Dominicans, waiving this country’s immigration restrictions to their citizens for a period of six months to reside here until infrastructure in Dominica is rebuilt. Dr Rowley urged Trinbagonians to open their homes to Dominicans to help them get back on their feet before they can return “home” in six months time.
