However, the minister said he was bothered by the fact that since schools were closed for eight weeks for the August vacation, no one picked up on the problem.
Speaking during a news conference on Thursday at the Ministry’s head office, St Vincent Street, Port of Spain, Garcia said the ministry has not received any inforrmation on the rodent problem.“No one reported it during those eight weeks and after just two weeks when school reopened, we were told there was a rodent infestation,” Garcia said.
Droppings were discovered throughout the school. There were also electrical problems.
