Murder suspect still under heavy guard at hospital

The man suspected of fatally stabbing his wife to death over the weekend remains warded at the Mt Hope Medical Sciences Complex, battling for his life.

Checks at the NWRHA revealed that the murder suspect remains under police guard at the medical institution in a stable condition. The 35-year-old man is believed to have attacked his estranged wife Donna-Marie Alexis Yearwood over the weekend, after learning of her plans to leave her full-time job as manager of Catwalk on Upper Frederick Street. According to relatives, Donna-Marie, who spent lots of money on her attacker, had plans to leave her job to do a three-year bible-study course. However, the suspect, who had been separated from the deceased for just about a week, became enraged after learning of Alexis-Yearwood’s plans, and attacked her at her mother’s home in Barataria on Saturday, killing her in the process. The suspect, who attempted to shoot the victim initially, stabbed her in the face, chest and neck with a knife after he was overpowered by relatives who took away his gun. He then turned the knife on himself, slitting his own throat. Barataria police are continuing investigations.
