TT’s ’scapes in the spotlight

The exhibition includes painting, mixed media and photography and will be open to the public from September 16 to 30.

The exhibition theme is the ever popular “scapes of Trinidad and Tobago.” One wonders about this theme’s popularity and it is quite simple really – it records a space and time as well as the beauty of the land we love. While landscapes may be the most popular or obvious, our use of “…scapes” is intended to provide a broader range of subjects such as “scapes” of the sky, moon, sea, river, city, hard and/or aerial.

The intention of the exhibition is to enlarge the understanding of our culture and society through the reconsideration of “scapes” imagery produced today as well as attempt to reconsider the implications of the landscape in our culture and provide a look at how artists perceive, reconstruct and distinguish the subject.

Some of the artists featured in this exhibition include Jackie Hinkson, Sundiata, Lisa O’Connor, Dermont Louison, Ramon Navarro, Martin Superville, Edward Bowen, Peter Sheppard as well as Rachel Superville, Fraulein Rudder, Robyn Knaggs, Jason Nedd, Beverly Fitzwilliam Harries, Cliff Birjou, Christian Wainwright and Candice Sobers and Jean Claude Salvatori.

This exhibition will be held at In2Art’s gallery at Aldegonda Park, 7 St Ann’s Road, St Ann’s. Images of the exhibition works will be posted to in2art’s website, in2artltd.com, from the opening day of the exhibition.

An exhibition of this scope is an invaluable opportunity for the public, collectors and artists to expose themselves to the talent that abounds in our twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago.
