Caretaker arrested for $64,000 jewelry theft
The caretaker of Dr Calvin Inalsingh’s St Augustine property has been arrested and charged for larceny of $64,000 worth of jewelry belonging to Shivana Inalsingh (daughter of the doctor). On Sunday, Dr Inalsingh was at his Ragbir Hill property with caretaker Roland Audain, 18, when a piece of jewelry fell out of his pocket. When Dr Inalsingh inquired whose jewelry it was, the caretaker insisted it was his. A search was made of Dr Inalsingh’s daughter’s room and her jewelery was missing. The caretaker broke down and admitted that he took the jewelry. He was taken to the St Joseph Police Station where he was charged with larceny. When the Basilon Street, Tunapuna man appeared before Tunapuna Second Court Magistrate Joanne Connors, Audain pleaded guilty to the offence, and is to reappear in court for sentencing. An outstanding warrant for arrest without bail on monies he owed the court was also executed on him.
