Young motorist killed in auto accident

A VEHICULAR accident claimed the life of 24-year-old Joel Fuentes of Poole Village, Rio Claro, South Trinidad, early yesterday morning. Three other persons received injuries and are hospitalised from the accident which occurred around 2 am in the vicinity of La Gloria Estate, Naparima-Mayaro Road, Tableland, when Fuentes’ car struck another vehicle. A police report stated Fuentes who was driving a Lancer motor car, was returning home from a party. In the car were his relatives Joel Fuentes, 19, Brendon Ashby, 23, and Keslie Ashby, 18.

The report stated that Fuentes’ car struck another car travelling in the opposite direction driven by Alvin Greene. Fuentes’ car skidded upon impact and crashed against a tree. Fuentes received serious in-juries to the head and was pronounced dead on arrival at the San Fernando General Hospi-tal. The other three occupants received injuries to various parts of their bodies and were, up to yesterday, warded at hospital. Police said that Greene luckily escaped injuries and perhaps his life was apparently saved when upon impact, the air bag inflated.
