Taxi robber shot by police
A 24-year-old Petit Valley man is resting comfortably at the Port-of- Spain General Hospital after being shot by police shortly after robbing two taxi drivers. According to reports, the man entered a maxi-taxi at Powder Magazine, Cocorite, and on reaching Leo Bass Road, pointed a gun at the driver’s head and relieved him of cash.
Minutes later, he entered a taxi at Sierra Leone Roundabout and on reaching the Petit Valley Main Road, pointed a gun at the driver’s head and also robbed him. However, a police car was passing at the same time, and the driver raised an alarm. The bandit ran off, pursued by police. The man was eventually cornered in an abandoned house, where he pulled a gun at the police. Police shot him in the arm and stomach. Constable Joseph is investigating.
