New Panorama Format in 2004

The annual National Panorama competition takes on a new format come 2004. This in an effort to level the playing field. According to Pan Trinbago’s  President, Patrick Arnold, “We are looking at four categories Single Pan, Small Bands, Medium Bands and Large Bands, this is to give smaller bands a chance to build themselves while earning some money.” The prizes are being worked on but it should be in the region of $140,000 large, $100,000 medium, $80,000 small and $60,000 single pan.

Arnold says it is time these smaller bands get something out of the panorama; it cost them plenty money to produce a panorama “tune” so they should get back something. The organisation plans to reveal the new Panorama format at a press conference in the near future. Meanwhile there will be a big pan gig at Renegades Pan Yard on Charlotte Street, Port-of-Spain on January 2 2004. Simply called “Clash of the Regions” the event will feature top bands from each region in what is also a fund-raiser. The bands booked to appear are Exodus, Witco Desperadoes, NLCB Fonclaire and bpTT Renegades no band from the sister isle has been included to date.
