No foul play in death of cocaine addict

A 37-year-old man died in hospital on Christmas Day,  one day after his nude semi-conscious body was found in Ste Madeleine. Police suspect that Alder Gonzales, a cocaine addict, may have fallen and hit his head on the ground. Gonzales, the brother of Woman Police Constable Maureen Gonzales, was unemployed, lived alone and had no children. Police reports stated that on December 24, the woman police received an anonymous telephone call from someone who told her to go and check on her brother.

When she arrived at her brother’s home, she found him lying naked on the  floor of his home. She took him to her Princes Town home, but when she realised that he was not regaining consciousness she rushed him to the San Fernando General Hospital where he was warded. He died on Christmas Day. An autopsy performed at the San Fernando mortuary yesterday stated that death could have been caused by a fall or a drug overdose. Gonzales’ funeral service was held yesterday at Belgroves Funeral Home. Ste Madeleine Police conducted investigations.
