Fisherman was shot in the head

CEDROS fisherman Ramesh Lalchan died from two gunshot wounds to the back of his head, a post-mortem concluded yesterday.

Lalchan, 37, of Fullerton Village, was discovered on Wednesday in an isolated track in a canefield near Fairfield Road, Princes Town. The post-mortem was conducted by Dr Hughvon Des Vignes at the Forensic Science Centre. Lalchan’s body was found hog-tied with shoe-laces and gagged with a bandana.

Several documents bearing his name and a “Darleen Harbhajan” were found discarded in bushes near the body. Police were exploring a possible drug link in the murder.  No arrests have been made as yet. Cpl Renwick of the Princes Town Police Station is investigating.
