PowerGen, Preysal in Carib Shield ‘semi’
First ball will be bowled at 2.30 pm at Gilbert Park, Couva. In last week’s quarter-finals, PowerGen whipped W Connection Wanderers by 40 runs while Preysal eliminated FCB Clarke Road by seven wickets.
Preysal will also be looking for a measure of redemption, following their 35-run defeat to Ceramic MerryBoys in Saturday’s Carib Sunday League final. MerryBoys will have to wait a few days to find out their semifinal opponent as the result between Alescon Comet and Queen’s Park will be discussed by the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) disciplinary committee.
The committee, headed by former national batsman Justice Prakash Moosai, will be expected to make a decision on the matter, with Comet initially ruled as the winner on the fact that they won more first round matches (three) than the Parkites (two).
But the Parkites issued a protest on the basis that the ground at Pierre Road, Charlieville, was unsuitable for cricket last Wednesday, thus the match should have been awarded in their favour.
