Ex-cop gets $60,000 bail for attempted murder

A 52-YEAR-OLD retired Caroni 1975 Ltd Estate Police Corporal was granted $60,000 bail last Friday when he appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of his 28-year-old wife.

Marquis Joseph Rodriguez appeared before Magistrate Jai Narine in the Princes Town First Court to face the charge laid by Cpl Jagroo of the Princes Town CID. Cpl Zamsheed Mohammed prosecuted in the matter. It is alleged that around 4.30 am on New Year’s Day, Yvonne Rodriguez was attacked at her Indian Walk Village, Moruga home. She  reportedly suffered chop wounds to her head and both hands. The matter was adjourned to January 23.
